Since my first practice as a competitive swimmer, I have always asked my self “whats the next step.” My sophomore season was my wake up call to my collegiate dreams. I placed 3rd at regionals missing the state qualification time by less than a second in my 100 breaststroke. I said to myself “okay, in order to get noticed out there, I need to make it to state next year.” I worked my tail off all year for my junior season. I surpassed my own expectation for and ended up placing 8th in the A finals at state. This constant work towards a goal really shaped me over the course of 10 months. I realized not only that I might have a chance to swim in college, but the fact that I just love the sport. It’s my true passion and nothing gets me going better than waking up before the sun is out and jumping in the pool. I love the feeling of accomplishment after I finish every practice and I love to share my enthusiasm with my teammates.
