Nicolas Sobenes '23 Recruiting Profile

I am Nicolas Sobenes, a 6’2” 185-pound competitive club swimmer from Dallas, TX. I have been swimming for the past ten years and have been on the Dallas Mustangs swim club for the past 7 years. For the past 24 months, I have been a part of the Nationals team increasing my commitment to the sport. In these past 24 months, I have gotten my first Summer Junior National cut. I also was the highest point scorer for my high school at the championship meet, winning the SPC 100 fly as a sophomore. I loved teaching the other members of my team how to have faster flip turns and starts and was named MVP for this season. I also competed in my first international competition due to my dual citizenship, the "Nacionales CONADE 2022", where I won third place and score the most points for my team.  These 24 months of success in this sport have really fueled my desire to compete and succeed at higher levels. I attend a high academic preparatory school where I take all honors classes and have a 4.03 weighted GPA and took 6 APs and in Senior year i will take four classes for dual credit. 

I would like to continue my academic pursuits at an institution that values high academic standards. My near-future goal is to get more Junior Nationals times, while my long-term goals are to compete in higher-level international competitions and at a competitive collegiate level. 

This summer in between my double swim practices, I am teaching young kids (two to six years old) how to swim, with already 3 to 5 kids daily.
