Derek Montgomery '21 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Derek Montgomery, I am a Senior at B F Terry High School. Class of 2021 in Rosenberg, Texas. I was introduced to swimming when I was 9 years old. After my first year, I wanted to play baseball. I played baseball up to my Sophomore year (2017-2018). I decided to try the swim team. When I saw how well I did in my first year back after all these years, I have not looked back. I did great & I wanted to go as far as I could in Swimming. I really enjoy getting competitive during practice and swim meets. Striving to achieve my goals & succeeding them is a great feeling to have. For instance, some if the goals I have achieved is competing at the State Championship meet, along with breaking two school records. Last year, I wanted to beat at least one swimming record at school. I beat two, the 50 & 100 Freestyle. My Bonus was making it to State. It has not been done in my High school in the last 20 years. I placed 8^th & 13^th overall in Texas, in my events. I could not have done it without the support from my high school team, club team, coaches and my parents. They all played a part in grooming me to get me where I am today. Let’s not forget the help of my teachers. I have a 3.72 GPA and a solid academic background.
