I first started my swim career at the beginning of my freshman year of highschool at 14 years old. I was motivated to join swim by some friends who were on my schools team and quickly fell in love with the sport. I faced a few struggles trying to deal with being so far behind my peers as they had started swimming years before I had but with a lot of hard work I eventually caught up and surpassed some of the people who initially got me into the sport within a year of when I started. Since then I have grown even more in love with swim and my dream to swim in college got stronger and I realize this will take a lot of effort, determination, and perseverance on my end to catch up to my peers but I am ready to put in that work and plan to give my all to reach my goal.
Despite my short time in swim I have become fairly well versed in both the breastroke and butterfly, along with that I am constantly trying to push myself and others on my team to new heights so we can all improve as swimmers. I do my best to set a good example to my teammates both athletically and academically always trying to encourage everyone to do their best. I encourage my coaches and teachers to give me criticism as I have a desire to get better and know I can learn from them to help me be the best student athlete I can.
At school, I work hard to maintain my current 4.05 GPA even through the struggles of moving and changing schools every few years as well as going between big cultural changes from going back and forth between Africa and the U.S. I am active among my peers in my classes trying to help others as best I can as well as working with the teachers to better my understanding of the current topics to improve myself as a student. I wish to attend a college where I can challenge myself both athletically and academically and I am open to all options and ultimately wish to find the college that will be the best fit for me in both aspects. With that said I still wish to compete at the highest athletic level I possibly can to improve both my athletic ability as well as work to help others reach their goals too. I wish to become a successful student athlete and positive role model to inspire those around me to positively impact me and my peers.
