Steven Butler '19 Recruiting Profile

Since the age of five, I have enjoyed competing for top finishes in swimming. I have especially appreciated the team aspect of swimming. While at practice and meets, I swim my fastest when supported by teammates. I also try to encourage my teammates by challenging them as well as having fun with the team before, during, and after practice. Winning the 200 Freestyle Relay at the Virginia 6A State Championship was the most memorable moment of my high school career so far. Every member of the team was able to swim their fastest 50 Freestyle split ever. Without our ability to step up to the challenge, we would not have been able to win the race.  I plan on carrying my spirit into racing at the college level.

While swimming after high school, one of my main goals is to further develop my strength and power. I feel I have a large amount of physical potential along with the desire to succeed. I am looking for the challenges of a competitive team that will push me to be the fastest swimmer I can possibly become.
