Swimming above the high school level has been a goal of mine since I was 12 years old. Ever since I had that goal, I've been pushing not only myself but my friends as well. I think one of the main reasons I have this goal is because of the exhilaration I get from racing. I live for the mix of pressure and excitement right before I dive in. I get really excited when my teammates swim too. For example, when I was 12, a girl named Kiara and I would push each other in practice. We had a swim meet once and we both swam the 200 IM. Kiara accidentally missed her event and had to swim with the boys in my heat. We were actually really happy that happened because we knew we would both push each other super hard in the race. That race I swam a best time by 1 second and Kiara dropped 3 and made her first state cut. This really makes me a good teammate because I challenge people, and people challenge me. My grind does not stop in the pool either, I have a goal every year to challenge myself in my classes, and when I don't exceed my expectations I work harder.
