Personal Statement

I was first interested in tennis in middle school when I played with my friends. Since then I have always been an eager player who loves to train and always strives to improve. Tennis has shaped me to have a strong work ethic and undying spirit to keep going and never give up. I have a big serve which I like to back up with volleys. I always like to finish points at the net and I love to dominate with my forehand. I plan to major in computer science and am very passionate about playing tennis in college.

ActivitiesTennis I have trained intensely in order to get better at this sport. I started late at the age of 12 and had to pick up skills very fast in order to keep up. Through my training I have been able to maintain a varsity singles position for all four years on the tennis team. This is a prestigious position as only the top 3 players on the team play singles. Awards Varsity Hall of Fame (Tennis) SCTA First Serve Tournament Champion (Two years in a row) Junior Team Tennis Section Champion (Two Years in a row) League Champions Taekwondo You must start at white belt and work your way up each belt until you become a black belt. You must train and prepare and when you are ready you must pass a test to determine whether or not you get your belt. It takes months to move up a belt. I had to work hard everyday to learn and practice my technique. In addition to the multiple hours I had to train for 4 months for my black belt test which was very challenging. After getting my black belt I went on to move on to a black belt third degree which takes more intense training. Awards Black Belt Third Degree Certificate Work (Self-Employed) - Tennis Racket Stringer I worked as a tennis racket stringer and I strung tennis rackets for tennis players. I am self employed and strung most of the rackets at my house. I strung rackets for 10 dollars each for tennis players and friends who needed it. I worked mostly for the tennis players on my high school team but also catered to friends and other tennis players. Community Service- CSF This club holds many events to help out the community. It ranges from trash clean up to setting up events and much more. CSF helps in many ways for our community. I have volunteered a great amount and have spent most of my time helping preserve environmental areas such as the madrona Marsh, to setting up year round carnivals and festivals. Throughout my time I have gotten better at my communication and leadership skills by helping and managing many events. Community Service- Key Club Key Club helps its community through service and volunteerism. The club volunteers by serving the community through cleaning up parks, collecting clothes, and organizing food drives. Events and meetings are set up each week to help the community. I have attended many events in this club to help with volunteering for the community. I have learned a lot of communicating skills by working together with people in events and meetings. I have helped set up various festivals and events to help serve the community. Community Service- Red Cross Red Cross is an organization that serves to deliver crucial services, relief and support to those in need. The Red Cross helps support people during disasters through volunteering and service. I have helped by attending many of the events setup every week. I have helped with many blood drives and helped gather food and clothing in order to donate to those in need.
