Alaysia Liggons '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Alaysia Liggons and I am 17 years old. I was born  in Bakersfield, CA and I still live in this city. I have been running track since I was 8 years old. I have many abilities that I believe that makes me different from other athletes. One of my abilities that I am happy about is, I'm a hard worker. My other ability is to get a lot  of work done in a short period of time without being overwhelmed. Determination always helps me find my way around obstacles when it comes to work. This furthers my ability to be a good college student because I will work to the end. During the pandemic, I took advantage of the time we have after school is over. The pandemic and being home made school difficult to focus on, which led to me having work on top of work. Although it was difficult, I managed to maintain good grades and a good GPA. 

As a student, I pride myself on having a positive attitude and always uplifting others. I have always stayed busy and active in my school which allowed me to make new friends and allies. I became a part of the Varsity Track team, the Viking Regiment,  Black Student Union, YWEL, and West High Photo to stay diverse and always have an outlet outside of the classroom. Aside from my extracurricular activities, I make sure to keep my school clean and positive. I always pick up after myself and others, and I make sure no one is ever sitting alone. With this, I take on leadership roles on and off the field. I was elected President of the Varsity Track team because of my hard work and ability to help others. 

I know I am different from other athletes and a great fit for any college recruiters because I have continued to learn and grow even when things were going bad. I am a hard worker and perseverance is my strong suit. Not only will I be a good fit for the colleges, I will be a good fit for the students around me.
