My name is Gideon Vethan, I am 17 years old, a senior at Huntington Beach High School, and am looking forward to playing college tennis. I grew up in Texas, and moved to Southern California with my family when I started high school four years ago. I play line 1 singles and line 1 doubles for my high school team, and singles in USTA tournaments.
I returned to USTA competition after being off for about 9 months following an ankle injury requiring significant rehab and rest. I was able to play at a competitive level in August of 2022, and have had some success on my return. I am now in the process of building up my ranking and UTR. I expect my ranking to climb into the top 100 in Southern California Section by the end of this year.
I have an all court game, and have developed an attacking style over the past year, which allows me to fend off aggressive baseliners. I am looking to play singles and doubles at a highly competitive college program. I believe in putting the team ahead of myself, and look forward to continuing to develop my game and add value to any lineup I join.
Thank you for viewing my profile and reading my statement. I look forward to speaking with you.
Regards,
Gideon Vethan (Class of '23)
