I have been playing tennis since I was 8 years old. My passion for the sport has only grown. I actually come from a tennis family -- my mom played tennis for Princeton University and my uncle played tennis for Columbia University. Now, at the end of my Junior year, I find myself taking my tennis to the next level. I am practicing every day and competing every week with the goal of increasing my UTR and ranking as much as possible. My UTR is already on the rise and I feel that I have so much more to give to the sport.
In tennis, self control and learning from mistakes is as important as groundstroke technique or footwork. When I play, I focus on keeping a cool head and not letting my opponent see any emotion. This attitude has helped both on and off the court. One of the most rewarding tennis experiences I’ve had is playing for my high school team. I liked the team aspect of this experience, and enjoyed playing both singles or doubles—whatever the team needed. As I think about playing in college, winning alongside my teammates is my prime motivation—as a singles player, a practice partner or a doubles player.
At the same time, my studies are extremely important to me. While I do not know my exact major yet, I am interested in the sciences, specifically computer science and chemistry. I am looking for a college with an excellent academic reputation.
I know I can be a positive addition to your college roster -- I am a hard-working, athletic, helpful "team player".
