My name is Will Ulrich and I am from Lincoln, Nebraska. I am a 17 year old, rising junior in the class of 2021. I am an ambitious and driven hard-worker who strives to get better every day, both on and off the court. I am the oldest of four kids.
I am 5’11”, 135 lbs and am still growing. My dad is 6'5" and my mom is 5'9". My doctor recently did an x-ray of my growth plates, which confirmed that I have a lot more growth coming. I was selected as a 2017 and 2018 member of the Nebraska All-State Tennis Team and a 3-time State Champion. I was the NSAA Boys Tennis State Champion at #2 Doubles in 2017, NSAA Boys Tennis State Champion at #2 Singles in 2018 and NSAA Boys State Tennis Champion at #2 Singles in 2019. I was also selected as a member of the 2018 and 2019 Lincoln Journal Star All-City Boys Tennis Teams, an 2019/20 Academic All-State recipient and one of 3 nominees for the Lincoln Journal Star Boys Tennis Player of the Year. I have participated in Futures, Supers, and Zonals and have been playing tennis for 11 years.
Outside of tennis, I am a member of the National Honor Society and am a 6-time half-marathon finisher, placing 4th in the Lincoln Nebraska National Guard Half Marathon Boys 14U division in 2017. I have a passion for tennis, both as a player and in sharing the sport with others, and enjoy time spent giving back to the sport whenever possible. I have been a volunteer for a local tennis organization that is a partnership of athletes with disabilities and tennis enthusiasts, and played doubles with a Special Olympics athlete as a Unified Partner in the 2018 Nebraska Special Olympics. I was also the 2020 Lincoln Tennis Association Junior High Performance Player of the Year.
I am goal-oriented and always looking for ways to better my physical and mental game, and am usually the first one to the courts and the last one to leave. It is my dream to play college tennis. I am open to schools everywhere, but would prefer a school close to the Midwest region. I am looking for a semi-big school with good academics, possibly in Business with an emphasis in Pre-law. My goal is to play at the highest level of competition possible, while making a positive impact for my team. As a good team member, I will bring a hard-working attitude, a passion for tennis, determination, motivation, enthusiasm and loyalty.
