Personal Statement

The moment I stepped onto the track for the first time, I knew I wanted to pursue this sport further into my college years. It has been a dream of mine to run competitively for a College/University Cross Country and Track and Field Team, and I have worked and continue to work harder than I can to make this dream a reality. It does not matter what workout or drill I am doing; I always push as hard as possible and go the extra, extra rep. I train like this because I don't want to leave anything up to chance. This mindset has been crucial to my success in an undefeated Cross Country Season and how I became a Canadian Cross Country Champion. As an athlete on your team, you can always expect to see the best from me. I show up to training before anyone else. I am always the last one to leave, and when I come back home, I put in extra work even if it has not been prescribed, for that is what I do and what I believe makes me a great candidate for your team and enhances my overall performance. As a teammate, I also expect the best out of all my teammates, which can be essential to the entire team's success in the end.  Although Running is what is most important to me, I project the same work ethic and discipline into my studies. I realize that academics are important in my development as a young man with a purposeful future. I have been blessed with a gift for running, but I understand that the gift will only get me so far; because of this, I work harder than anyone else, for, in the end, it is the guy who gives the most, that will achieve their dreams. I am really excited for a future of running and living my dream, and I cannot wait to be crossing the finish line wearing your school colors!

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in AP/IB classes?
Yes. AP Seminar: AP Seminar is a foundational course that engages students in cross-curricular conversations that explore the complexities of academic and real-world topics and issues by analyzing divergent perspectives. Using an inquiry framework, students practice reading and analyzing articles, research studies, and foundational, literary, and philosophical texts; listening to and viewing speeches, broadcasts, and personal accounts; and experiencing artistic works and performances. Students learn to synthesize information from multiple sources, develop their own perspectives in written essays, and design and deliver oral and visual presentations, both individually and as part of a team. Ultimately, the course aims to equip students with the power to analyze and evaluate information with accuracy and precision in order to craft and communicate evidence-based arguments.
