My goal is to compete track at an academically competitive school. My events thus far have been jumps, specializing in the triple, but I am open to any event - including the decathalon. I have competed varsity since I was a Freshman but did not start refining my triple jump technique until I was a junior. I know I am capable of growth and excited to train hard and improve my marks in college.
I am more than an athlete, though, and bring balance, perspective, and leadership. I am a self-motivated scholar with a passion for biology. As an athlete, I am dedicated, open to coaching, and train year-round. I play two-sports (track and football) and have held leadership roles on both teams. I am also active in health advocacy. This year I will be co-President of my high school's Type 1 club, which provides educational outreach and support for teens living with chronic illnesses. I was also selected as a National Youth Ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and am active in policy advocacy at the national level. Having Type 1 diabetes myself, I have had to overcome adversity. My passion is to help others living with conditions like diabetes and, hopefully, inspire others to play high level sports regardless of health challenges. My hopes are to enter academic medicine and do work that contributes to a cure for Type 1 and other autoimmune disorders.
I value hard work, a strong team culture, and supporting my fellow teammates. Thank you for your interest in me and for reading my profile.
