My interest in sports began when I started watching major league baseball, which led to my participation in judo and baseball. In both sports, I became interested in the running aspect where my speed was helping to make me successful. This led to me joining my school’s track and cross country team, where I have put a lot of dedicated time into my running. I train during the offseason to improve my strength and speed. I think I will be a great candidate on a collegiate track and field team because I am a goal oriented and dedicated athlete.
I became interested in pursuing an education in the field of sports medicine after sustaining an injury on the track. I felt the need to educate myself about it through research and working with my sports therapist to recover. During recovery, I realized a holistic approach is necessary to manage the demands of the body while performing, which includes fitness, diet, injury prevention, and post recovery. This experience ignited a desire to help people in the way that my sports therapist helped me. Since sophomore year, I have been taking on growing responsibilities of the hurdle team by providing motivation, instruction, and support to achieve maximum performance. I hope to continue my education in the field of sports medicine so I can continue to help future athletes and give back to the sports community.
