My cross country and track career started with family members suggesting that I try running. At first, I was hesitant to try it out, however, as I grew both as a runner and as a person, I realized that I liked running because of the relationships that I built and the sense of freedom it gave me. At the moment, my goal for high school is to break the school records for the 3 mile, 2 mile, and 1 mile. My main collegiate goal is to work my way up to competing at the professional level. After I had come to the realization that hard work beats talent, I started doing my best to not be outworked by anyone. I feel that my competitiveness on the track is a quality that can be used not only to push me but also to push those around me. Being in cross country and track has also strengthened my leadership skills as I have been a team captain for a couple seasons and it has helped the people around me because I was able to give them advice on things that I have experience with. I also believe that I am exceptional when it comes to Academics, which translates to my athletic career because the mentality for both school and running are similar in the sense that both require consistency, dedication, and perseverance. My mentality and approach to academics has allowed me to achieve a high GPA because of the hours that I have dedicated to studying and working on assignments and projects while maintaining a balance between my school life and my extracurriculars.
Thank you for your consideration.
