Personal Statement

Hello Coaches, my name is Zachery Falcon and I am a student athlete, class of 2017, at Temescal Canyon High School in Lake Elsinore, CA. I am determined to take my passion and enthusiasm for running to the collegiate level. I am currently captain of both the cross country and track teams. I enjoy sharing my passion for running with the underclassmen and mentoring them to help set and achieve their personal goals. My junior year I was the Sunbelt League Champion in the 800M and placed second in league for the 4x400MR. I also set the school record for the 3 mile during cross country at 15:30.

My favorite subject in school is Biology and I plan to take Honors Human Anatomy and Physiology my senior year. I am considering a major in Biology or Kinesiology/Exercise Science, with the goal of getting a job as an athletic trainer. My current cumulative GPA is 3.186, but I am working hard to continue to bring this up.

I struggled my freshman year with the transition into high school, but  my first semester of my senior year I achieved a 3.8 GPA and my junior year I had a 3.67 GPA my first semester and 3.33 GPA my second semester.  Finding running my freshman year really helped me find my way. I was involved in baseball prior to high school, but didn’t start running until my freshman year. I knew immediately that I loved to run and decided to go out for track instead of trying out for baseball. I have run varsity since joining the Cross Country team my freshman year.

I helped out the past two summers with a youth running camp that focuses on helping young kids get involved with running and staying fit. When I am not studying or at practice, I enjoy working out in my spare time. I focus mainly on high intensity body weight exercises, working intensely on my abs and core. I have found that this helps me be a stronger all around runner.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me. Please let me know if you are interested in helping me take my passion for running to the next level. I look forward to hearing from you.
