My name is Jad Khansa, and I am a junior thrower at Amador Valley High School. During my freshman year, I lettered in both shot put and discus on my way to taking first In the EBAL frosh/soph championships. During my sophomore year, I made great strides in my transition to the 12 pounds shot by posting bests of 43 feet in the shot put as well as 128 feet 7 inches in the discus on my way to the first round of NCS. Although the season is postponed, I was able to improve my shot put distance to 47 feet 6 inches within the first two meets of the season. I have been working hard over the past offseason to improve both my rotational shot and discus technique and am looking forward to showing off my hard work in future meets. What separates me from other athletes is that I am an individual who started at the very bottom. I did not perform very well during my freshman year, but I was able to use that as fuel to work harder and become stronger the following year. I know that I am always developing as a thrower, and you will constantly see me improving from year to year. I am a determined individual who puts forward my utmost effort into academics as well as athletics, and I am very interested in John Hopkins due to its athletic excellence and high standards of education. I would like to major in electrical engineering in order to someday work for Intel like my father. I want to expand the program's reputation for athletic achievement, and I am positive that I would be a great addition to any program and a voice of leadership.
