My journey with running began in the fall of 2020. Before that, I had no interest in any physical activity. After running a couple years in high school cross country, you could say "I caught the fever". I began to run in the off-season in 2022, and then in June 2023, I was connected with a man who was a marathon runner and distance coach. Working with him, I had fewer injuries and overall better results. My school does not offer track, so it took a little extra effort to compete in the IHSA track season, but I got it approved through my school board to run independently. It was a great experience, and I achieved many goals during my first track season. The best part of the season came when I qualified to compete at the IHSA State Track Finals. I ran a PR of 10:05.11 and finished 15th out of 31 runners in the 3200M. I am ready to be pushed to the next level and continue my athletic career in college.
