Hayes Thompson '21 Recruiting Profile

I am the youngest of three children in my family. My brother is in Mechanical Engineering at LSU and played many sports in highschool. My sister is studying Biochemistry and on scholarship playing soccer for LSU. My parents are both athletic and my dad played football at Nicholls State on full scholarship. As you can see, I come from a family that is very active in sports. I am a 3 sport athlete and pole vaulting is my favorite of the three. I really enjoy it and have become passionate about it. I have reached my first goal of clearing 15’ and my next goal is to clear 16’ before my junior year is complete. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by great coaching at a local pole vaulting club. My coach has pole vaulted at the college level and has been coaching pole vaulting for over 30 years. I also receive coaching from one of the parents at our club who pole vaulted for LSU.

I am looking for an institution where I can pursue not only my pole vault passion but a degree in engineering. My dad and sister say that being a college athlete is a privilege and a challenge and I am ready for that challenge.
