Luca Orsino 400m ...Personal Statement
Hi, my names Luca Orsino and I go to Sparrows Point High School. I am a very dedicated and passionate student-athlete with big dreams and aspirations. I always give 100% in everything I do and strive to be the very best! I work well and exceed with others and with coaches. I'm always open to new ideas and new things that will better me as a runner and as a person. I am very passionate at what I do and am just excited to bring my game to the collegiate level. I aspire to run at a high level and just want to get better and better. What separates me from other student-athletes is my dedication to both aspects, the student, and the athlete. I'm both, sporting a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 5.44 QPA while also putting down fast times on the track. I love running with people faster than me because in my experience, it only pushes me to get faster and eventually surpass them. I bring a very positive mindset to the track every time I lace up and just want to be able to bring that same attitude to a 4-year college.

- I made it to regional finals this season in all three of my events with 3 big PRs! 11.46 in the 100m, 23.25 in the 200m and 51.86 in the 400m., I made it to regional finals this season in all three of my events with 3 big PRs! Finished top 10 there in the 100m and 400m. I also broke my school's record in the 200m and further improved upon my school's 400m record.

- I had a nice PR in the 100m, ran consistent in the 200m & 400m as well. I also ran the 4x100m and 4x400m and had great legs in both events. We qualified for Junior Olympics this year and I ran the first leg of the 4x100m and ran it very well.

- I played club from when I was about 6 to 12 and then had to stop playing due to school. Really want to get back onto a team and am working on it currently. Would love to possibly play at a high level in college as well.

- AwardsI made Honor roll every quarter of my high school career and am a part of the following Honor societies at my school; National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Math Honor Society (Mu Alpha Theta), and English National Honor Society. I am a part of the Honors Program at CCBC along with Phi Theta Kappa. I was also declared student of the year in 8th grade at my middle school, Sparrows Point Middle.
- ActivitiesAlong with the Honor societies I try and stay as active in my community and in my own life as possible in combination with balancing schoolwork and sports. Due to sports I don't have much time for many extracurriculars but I do my best. I was a captain for the my JV soccer team my sophomore year before getting pulled up to Varsity later in the season. I am a role model and leader for my peers and do my best to help point them in the right direction.
