Pole vaulting is my passion. I started pole vaulting my freshman year when I was surprised to learn it was available in High School. I’ve always enjoyed sports that required acrobatic control like snow and skate boarding, and here was one I could do in track that would develop more than just my running ability.
I quickly dedicated myself to learning the skills needed to succeed at this new endeavor, applying the perseverance I’d developed in team sports, boy scouts, life guarding, and Varsity Cross-Country the previous season. I also learned to depend on the support and expertise of my coaches at school and my vaulting club. Seeing the results of my efforts, I have a strong desire to continue challenging myself and I have high expectations for my remaining high school career, into college, and beyond.
I am looking for a college that provides the next level of coaching available and a strong competitive academic program. I plan to study aerospace engineering to pursue a career designing vehicles for the exploration of the sea and space.
