Personal Statement
Hey there! I am Layne Norris from Wellsville, Mo. I'm a Junior at Wellsville-Middletown High School. I've come a long way since I started running back in Spring 2017, a rough but fun journey. Last summer, I spiraled into a depression and put on some weight. So as you could guess, I had an awful season of XC, I struggled, couldn't even make it under 20 mins for a 5000. This year, despite there not being a track season this year, I pressed on, and embraced the hard work. 7 months later I'm able to run a sub 18 minute cross country 5k. The point isn't to make anyone feel sorry for me, the point I'm trying to make is that I am willing to put and the work.
