I remember watching the 2012 summer Olympics and how fast Usain Bolt was and instantly fell in love with the sport. I have always been fast and started running track in 8th grade. I ran the 100m, 200m and was the anchor of the 4x100m. I did very well, placing 1st in almost every race I competed in, and my love and passion for the sport grew even more. Since I had a lot of success right away in track, it taught me to be humble. My goal for high school was to make varsity as a freshman, through my hard work and dedication, I met my goal and made varsity. I played multiple sports which taught me how to manage my school and sports workload. My parents have always been a big influence on my grades, because they always told me that school comes first and if I didn’t have good grades I could not play sports, so this taught me to study hard to get good grades.
I was the anchor of the varsity 4x100m relay team my freshman year. We ran a faster time than another team, but since they were in a different district, their team went to the state meet instead of our team. This has given me motivation to work even harder so my individual time and our team time improves to make it to the state track meet. I believe with my hard work, dedication, being coachable, and the ability to be humble, I feel I would be a great addition to any track team in college. I understand that to be successful at track in college I also need to be successful in school, with my ultimate goal to get a degree in construction or engineering and graduate. Another passion of mine is welding and I can fall back on my degree if I decide not to pursue a career in welding.
