I am Dakota W Gullicksen, a senior of the class of 2021. The reason I run, wrestle and exercise is because I want to save lives. I always have this feeling that anything can happen at anytime and how I must be ready for any situation. Starting at the age of 5 I've always looked up to fictional characters and their role within their world, seeing how they make a difference with everything they do. I knew that is something I wanted to be, a hero. As it just so happens super powers don't exist, so the next best thing for me would be to physically prepare myself. I really didn't take it seriously until 7th grade when I went out for middle school Cross Country, middle school, Wrestling, and middle school track. even then I didn't think of doing some serious practice considering that I was smaller than the average high of the class. Continuing forward into high school, we had to kick it up a knot for training. miles were longer, competition was tougher, and the over all experience was different. I was at districts that I thought I heard someone say that I was close. Once the school year was over i knew this year had to be different, that I had to be different, so I trained all summer up to the school year and by then I was already better than the fastest guys in my team. this was giving my more motivation to continue forward. everything was a real game changer when I qualified for state cross country as a sophomore. I continued on to qualify as a junior as well. and now we are at this point where I am training more than the last 2 years, wanting to place at state. I will and have been doing what ever it takes to be the best me I can be to achieve my goals.
