When I started running 5 years ago I never would have guessed the amount of strength physically and mentally I've gained throughout the years along with many friends and amazing opportunities. Before I started to run I played soccer, I was told I should consider running cross country so I tried it out and after that first race in 7th grade with my heart pounding and lungs gasping for air, I fell in love with the sport. Some things I've learned from running Track and Cross Country are that I have a lot more in me than I previously believed and how significant nutrition, consistency, recovery, teamwork, and especially the mind are. Over the past couple of years, I've gained many skills such as being able to push myself beyond my limits, staying consistent, learning to double knot my shoes before my race, and most importantly to be grateful for everyone and everything I have. The person I am today has been shaped through my teammates, family, friends, and all of the challenges I've faced. The most significant obstacle I've had to overcome was the loss of my mom which left me with little passion for anything but then I remembered how she wanted me to live my life, to work hard, and do what I love, which always pushes me to be the best I can possibly be.
