My name is Matthew Laframboise, I am a senior at Greece Arcadia High School in Rochester NY. I am interested in running at the division 1 level and would like to know more about your schools running program. Academically I carry a 93-98% average and am ranked top 25 in my class of 293. I have been on high honor roll / high honor roll with distinction every year since 7th grade and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society. I also volunteer with the Spino Club which is a literacy program were we partner with several elementary schools in our area to promote reading. I am an enthusiastic volunteer at my Church where I have been involved with Flower City Work Camp since 7th grade and have been a Seneca Park Zoo volunteer since 8th grade.
Some of high points of my sophomore year in outdoor track were a 2.01.28 (FAT for a relay split) and anchoring our 4x800 relay team which ran an 8:05.58, breaking our school record. I also ran a 4:37.33 in the 1600m while recovering from an injury I got in cross country still finishing 2nd team All-County.
My best performances during this, my junior year, during the cross country season were at the McQuaid invitational and Counties. At McQuaid, a 3 mile course, I ran a 15:45.00 and received the elite runners patch. I also made 1st team All-county running a 16:14.3.
On the track, I have focused primarily on the mile. My best time to date being a 4:23.78, I hold the school record and have run under the state standards time and making it to state qualifies for the fourth time since 8th grade. I have run a 1:26.92 in the 600m and a 2:36.88 in the 1000. I also anchor our indoor 4x800 team where I have split a 1:57 as well as having set a new school record and finishing first in Section V. With State qualifiers still upcoming, I hope to qualify for states and set a personal best at the NYSPHSAA meet.
