I started running track as a freshman and going into it I didn't know what to expect. Before I actually joined the team I thought I would be the fastest one there and I would soon find out that wasn't the case. I found myself in the middle of the pack and turned to jumps to see if I was any better at those. I had a great coach and a great team around me that helped me push myself farther that I thought I ever could have gone. By the end of my sophomore year I found myself at the number 1 triple jumper spot on my team with a PR of 38 feet and 11 3/4 inches. I earned myself a caption spot on the team my junior year and I couldn't wait to improve, sadly that didn't happen. I found out that they had fired my jump and sprinter coach and I found myself having to coach myself on my own without the help of my great teammates from the year before du to the fact they had graduated. I found myself in a slump that I slowly had to pull myself out of. Though I did not PR at all my Junior year I successfully pulled myself out of that slump and found myself jumping close to my PR numbers. What puts me apart from other competitors is my work ethic, my drive to get better, and how I refuse to ever give up. A lot of people would've quit if they were put in my situation and as a matter of fact most of my teammates did but I stuck through it and I will again for my senior year because of my refusal to ever give up. I can't say i'll be the best competitor on whatever team I end up on, but I can say in confidence that I will be the hardest worker and no one will give more effort than I do.
