I believe that it is important to better yourself to the best of your abilities and go beyond. I started high school as a timid child who was bullied all throughout middle school and this damaged my self-esteem, my academics, and my ability to achieve what I want. I was one of the most under-performing members on my entire track team. It got to a point where my coach had to ask me to leave in the middle of the season and come back when I straightened out my life.
Later, I rejoined the team, started to fix my academics and started to become a speaker. By sophomore year former teachers and even my coach were surprised by my work ethic, a level of commitment, and my ability to help and inspire others . On my Hurdle team, I have the title of "Coach Chris" because I do my research when it comes to hurdling, help my teammates with their technique when I see an error and have gotten my own private coach to help me improve my technique. Hurdling is my way to show that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and that even if you are not the best you can still be the best version of yourself.
