Taking responsible risks that are backed by an appropriate amount of support and a lot of drive is a pattern that I have come to know in my life. It is the pattern that has pushed me and has led me to success in all aspects of my life, and it is the pattern that I take comfort in during times of stress or worry. In my path to becoming a responsible risk taker I have learned that for every choice you make there is always some kind of consequence, good or bad. Although there are times when we all experience the bad (learning through our mistakes), it is the good consequences that continue to push me when presented with challenges. It is through this pattern in my life that I have become a successful runner, I have excelled in advanced placement classes, I have experienced age appropriate financial responsibility, and I have created mutually respectful relationships with people that I encounter. It is also through this pattern what sets me apart from others my age, making me different from other potential recruits.
Aside from my motivations that relate to running, school, work, and friends, it is the people and respectful relations that mean the most to me. I take pride in who I am and I am consistent in how I treat others. Whether it be at work, school, at a friend’s house, or out on the track, I continue to work hard when it comes to people and my relationships. To name a few examples of some of my accomplishments that relate to my character: I am now a Boys State alumni, I have been chosen as a Team Captain for every year that I have participated in sports, I was the recipient of the Coaches Award and the Service Award, and I was crowned Prince at homecoming last year. In addition to these accomplishments I have maintained a part-time job at The Red Osier Landmark, and have maintained a 4.0 GPA within Regents and Advanced Placement classes. Through all of these accomplishments, it is the respectful and authentic relationships that define who I am, and it is also what keeps me grounded in my life.
As I approach the next phase in my life I am excited to take to advantage of opportunities that lie ahead for me. The opportunities that I am hopeful for would include admission into the college that is a right fit for me. The right fit would include a college where I could feel comfortable enough to be myself but challenged enough to grow. This college must also be a school where I could study Pre-Dentistry or Biology, participate in Track and Cross Country, and develop relationships that will last a lifetime. If given the chance to attend my ideal college, it will allow me to continue to grow and develop into the person that I aspire to be.
