Track has been the one sport that has sparked something in me that no other sport ever has. It's become something more than a sport to me. I have strengthened friendships and have built many new ones through track and field. My team is like a second family, everyone is supportive and kind to one another, which sometimes I feel is lost in other sports. And on top of everything, this sport just puts a pure smile on my face when I compete or watch my teammates run. I am dedicated to my team, coaches, and this sport I love dearly. I want to become a name people know in the track world, and I know running collegiate track is my next step. I feel that the times that I've achieved as a sophomore reflect my potential to be a very good runner.
I bring a sense of leadership and charisma to the team and will bring forth my best efforts in practice and at meets. Ask anyone on my team, and they will say that I work just as hard as everyone else and that I inspire others to unlock that next level of either strength or competitiveness. I have wonderful coaches who continue to support me in my track endeavors as well as the team. On one occasion during my first year of indoor track, my coach told me that I was one of the most coachable athletes he has ever had.
While it's important to be focused on my sport, I am a student-athlete, so grades are my ticket to competing in meets. Regardless if I am participating in a sport or not, I give my best effort in the classroom, maintaining good grades and having good attendance. When a class starts to get difficult for whatever reason, I take initiative to stay with that teacher and help myself overcome the challenge. In addition to school, I am a talented musician. I have been playing piano for 11 years and will hopefully continue to for the rest of my life. This led me to join a band and release music on Spotify and other music platforms! Our band is called Filled to the Brim.
Overall, whether you find me in the recording studio, in the classroom, or on the track, I'll always be the same kind and charismatic guy. I surround myself with friends that bring out the best in me, and I have loving and supportive parents to help me through my life. I feel I am an ideal candidate for recruitment due to my dedication to track, my character, and my skills outside of sports.
