I am a true scholar-athlete and work very hard in both areas. I want to be a doctor, so I’m focusing on math and science.
I have been running hurdles since 7th grade and enjoy making progress in my times and being part of a team. In 7th & 8th grades, I ran hurdles and competed in long jump and high jump. Due to COVID shutdown, I did not have a track season. My school district was able to have a spring track season this year. I had a great season considering I hadn’t ran hurdles since 2019.
This year i competed in the 110 high hurdles and the 400m hurdles. I won all of my meets and, as a sophomore, qualified for the 110 hurdles in Divisional finals and then qualified for the NYS Section XI Finals. In both of those contests, I was the only sophomore competing against a few Juniors and mostly Seniors. It was so exciting and fulfilling to make it that far after almost 2 years off.
My true passion lies in the 110 hurdles and that is what I’d like to specialize in.
I'm in my Junior year and am enjoying winter track season. I have placed first in all my regular meets this season, except one, I came in second. I PR'd on 2/14/22 at the NYS Section XI State Qualifier meet with a time of 7.85. I qualified for and competed at the NY State Championships on 3/5/22 (placed 14th out of 26) , the Long Island Elite Meet on 2/26/22 (placed 2nd out of 12) and the Nike Indoor Nationals on 3/13/22. I received the All League, All County, All Long Island Awards and well as the Riverhead High School MVP award for winter track. I'm looking forward to the spring outdoor season and to winning more events.
