June 2019Personal Statement
Over the course of a short period of time, running has quickly become an avid passion of mine. I've always been a runner on the soccer field, but during my junior year, I discovered a natural ability to run hurdles; this eventually lead me to compete in the North Carolina State Championship in the 110m hurdles. Even though this year was my first year running track in high school, I worked hard, progressively lowered my times throughout the season, and eventually PR'd in the State meet. Additionally, I am committed to finding a school that balances my desire for academic excellence along with athletic opportunity.
Something that resonates with me is a quote by Coach K: "In order to be a winner, you have to look for ways of getting things done and not for reasons why things can't be done."
