I fell in love with the sport of running late freshman Cross-Country season. I had some experience up until that point, running in both the 7th and 8th grade but I never saw a future in the sport. At least not until I got to know my previous head Cross-Country Coach, Milton Place. Unexpectedly, Coach Place passed away at the beginning of my junior Cross-Country season. He left me with many life lessons and also the strategy and knowledge of running. Coach Place believed pain is privilege and to be great at something you have to be willing to give your all and make sacrifices. I agree with this statement. He taught me how to persevere through both the pain of life and a Cross-Country race. Coach Place not only expected great running times but also a stellar academic report. I became more social both in and out of school because of Coach Place. I completed Boy Scouts of America and have rightfully earned the title Eagle Scout. I am volunteering this summer in Peru and am eager to give back to the world. I am interested in running in college for both Track and Field and Cross-Country. In my spare time, besides running, I enjoy learning new skills such as unicycling, juggling, solving Rubix cubes, skiing, camping, and hanging out with friends.
