Jack Buettner '22 Recruiting Profile

I am, Jack Buettner, currently a senior with the graduating class of 2022 at Mountain View High School in Bend, Oregon.  I'm easy to spot in a crowd at 215lbs on a 6'5" frame at 18.  I've been the tallest guy in the class from an early age, often asked "If I play ball?" I'm proud to tell people I am a thrower.  I was drawn to the sport in middle school, falling in the footsteps of past family members who also threw.  I lettered as a Freshman and sophomore with a PR discus throw in the Mountain Valley Conference Championship of 120' 6."  I went on to compete for Central Oregon Track club, qualifying for USATF as a Junior Olympian for Region 13.  As track has started back up again, I’ve been able to set a new personal record of 141’10”.

My continued education is of equal importance.  I made the All Academic Track Team carrying a weighted GPA of 3.91/3.70 unweighted.  I am currently enrolled in Advanced Placement course work, with a goal of achieving an Honors accreditation upon graduation.  I am interested in obtaining a degree in Engineering.  Growing up in a small town, I hope to attend a college with more of an urban environment. Outside of Track & Field, I'm actively involved with Conservation Club and Interact Club organizing events for our local community.  

I look forward to competing at the collegiate level.
