Personal Statement

As a freshman on the cross country team for Crater High School I knew that I had to push myself if I just wanted to be a good runner on Jv. With our team winning state and making it to regionals I soon became aware of just how good our team was. This pushed me to be even the better next year. I came into my sophomore season with a new drive, not just to be better than the last year but to try and be the best that I could that year. I then came into my junior year strong making it onto the varsity team, and breaking my pr's by quite a bit. Placing thirteenth at state, 67th at regionals, and 170th at nationals. The year really showed me how competitive this sport is, but the main take away for me was how much I can grow. I then started my first year of high school track as a junior after leaving my varsity spot on the baseball team to become more committed with running. Throughout my training I really became attached to the sport and came to the realization that running is something that I need to keep doing throughout high school and then compete at the college level.

With my team taking first at state, and regionals, and then placing at nationals, I learned something. I learned that if I just commit myself to this sport, and sacrifice things, that there is no limit to what I can do. As someone who is very competitive I am looking for a competitive program that will challenge me not only in athletics but will also keep me academically involved. I am looking to be part of a team with positive coaches that give constructive criticism, and a team that help support each others growth and successes. To me being talented isn’t everything, the work ethic and commitment behind my sport and education is even better than being naturally gifted. I believe that with my mentality and hard working personality, along with my drive that I will be a great asset to your team
