If someone told 7th grade me that I'd be state champion, I wouldn’t believe them. I went to a rural middle school, and our gravel track wasn’t exactly glamorous. Even so, I discovered I loved high jump. I loved it so much that I would drag the gigantic high jump pits out of the shed every practice. I didn’t have any coaches, so I would learn by watching Youtube videos.
But I’m very grateful for that experience. It made me appreciate having a real track and wonderful high school coaches. I’m described as “highly coachable” and I immediately take direction. These skills serve me well in the boatload of activities I'm involved in; I'm not just a jock, I’m a thespian and “brainiac”. I’m a very flexible and professional athlete. I’m open to any college opportunity as long as it pushes me to become the best version of myself.
