My name is James Timmins and I love being part of a team whether it’s on the field, at work or when I volunteer. Since I was 10, I have been volunteering with a rescue organisation and fostering abandoned or orphaned kittens. Some of the kittens are sick and scared when I get them, but I work hard to show them love and attention. They have taught me how to sleep and study with noisy and distracting roommates. So far I have raised and gotten adopted more than 70 kittens. In the summer and on weekends, I work in a big kitchen. The kitchen is great for my personality because I like to stay busy and I’m a great problem solver. In the kitchen you never know what’s going to go right or what’s going to go wrong, but I like the team environment where we all sink or swim together. I think both my job and my volunteering help make me a better team member when I’m on the field because I can hustle and be compassionate.
I would prefer a medium to large school that has clubs and volunteer opportunities. I am still exploring majors, and currently have an interest in business and psychology. I would be so happy to continue to compete as part of the track team because I love the focus practices and training give me, and the community that you find with a team and coaches.
