John Carruth '11 Recruiting Profile

I am 5'10" and 125 pounds. I love running cross country and track. I have been pretty successful over the past years in cross country. I received 1st team all-region and 1st team all-state in my sophomore year, my first year running. In my junior season I achieved the same and more. I was 1st team all-region and 1st team all-state as well as being selected to the all-area team. Also in my sophomore as well as in my junior year we won state championships as a team. I placed in the top 15, 7th overall both years. My personal best in a 5k is 17:15. I hope to break into the 16:00s my Senior year. I take running very seriously and I run year round, including the summer. I am looking to run in college. I would like to stay close to home but also if the right opportunity is presented I am willing to pursue my dream of being a college athlete. The schools size does not really matter to me, but I am looking for a scholarship to help me financial. I am looking to major in the field of science, but I have not narrowed it down anymore than that. I would like to attend school in South Carolina, and I am currently interested in Wofford and Clemson, but I am not set on either of the two. I am a good leader as well as a good follower. I have participated in many leadership programs and I was selected to attend Boys State the summer of my Junior year. I am a team captain and I know what it takes to win championships and I am striving to win more of them, whatever it may take.
