Hello, my name is James Pierce I live in Lead Deadwood South Dakota, and I run track, play football, run cross country and I'm also on the basketball team here. I didn't start to think about track past high school until late in the 2022 track season when my coach saw a large amount of growth and asked if I had made plans for after high school. I told him I knew what I wanted to do for schooling, but sports wise I never thought of myself as "good enough" for that. Even though I was running well into the low 51s in the 400 meters and even a new PR of 50.67 at the state meet for 3rd place. It just never occurred to me with my grades not being terrible and being fairly athletic what put me to the thought of college track was my work ethic. I love the act of pushing yourself to work harder at something than anyone else and seeing those results when it really counts. Thats what made me want to push myself to the next level of my running carrier. I'm not asking for a fulleride scholarship or even a scholarship of any kind at this point, I would just love the opportunity to talk to you coaches and get to know what it is like to be one of the best there is and to improve myself along the way. I am also not saying that i am the most talented or gifted athlete to choose from, but I can promise that if you take a chance on me, I will make it worth your while. Thank you for taking the time to read my statement James Pierce
