I started running track in Sixth Grade and at that time I planned to simply have fun running. I did enjoy running and still do enjoy it. In middle school I was able to compete with Eighth Graders while still in Seventh. In fact, I was part of my middle school record 4x400 meter relay team as a Seventh Grader. The way track focuses on both individual accomplishments and contributing to a team goal has always kept me interested. I enjoy helping and cheering for my teammates.
I have continued to progress in running while in high school. Freshman year was somewhat frustrating as I wanted to compete with the upperclassmen, but I was a step or two behind at that point. I continued to work hard and train in the weight room and on the track. In my sophomore year I was steadily growing to compete with the upperclassmen. I was ready for a breakout year this spring, but I am disappointed by the cancellation due to the covid-19 fear. I have continued to stay in shape. I compete in cross-country in the fall, not because it is a favorite sport, but because it enhances my breathing and running abilities in track. I have learned to push myself in running and other pursuits. I am a Boy Scout leader and I am pushing for my Eagle Rank. I strive to make the best grades possible and I am seeking honors and distinction in my high school classes.
