My name is Aaron Garza. I was raised by a single mother and my three brothers. I knew that I had to accomplish something through sports to try to assist my mother with the financial responsibility of attending a university.
I want to use the love of running to help me attain a degree in Physical Therapy. I want to be able to assist other athletes stay healthy so that they may continue living their healthy lifestyles. I know that the medical field will be demanding, but I am willing to put in the work to make it happen.
Prior coaches have said that I am very coachable. I understand that I do not know everything, but by listening to my coaches, I will be able to improve as an athlete. I am the type of person that will give the team and my coaches 100% from the beginning of practice to the end. I have also taken on the role of a leader in my team. Many times, I have tried to help my teammates with their form.
I ran varsity track since my freshman year, and I never took that for granted. I knew that other runners were not only trying to get my spot on a relay or trying to beat my times, I had other runners from different schools trying their best to run faster than me as well. I know that if I let up, others will beat me because they are putting in the work. My dedication and focus to the sport and my studies is what sets me apart from other candidates.
