Dylan Maurer '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Dylan Maurer and I am a member of the class of 2024 at Liberty Hill High School in Liberty Hill, Texas.  I run track for Liberty Hill High School .  I am a varsity pole vaulter on track team.  I am 6’2 and weigh 155 pounds.  I run a 4.87 40 yard dash and my current PR for pole vault is 13-3”.  I have always been the tall, lanky kid of the team. But what I lack in size, I make up for in effort. I am very coachable and take instructions well.  As a sophomore during football season, I dislocated my shoulder 3 times and tore my labrum in one game. This resulted in what turned out to be a season ending injury.  I knew I would have to get surgery, but what I didn’t know is that it would lead me to a sport that I would grow to love.  I didn’t realize how strong the feelings  would be until my first meet.  As soon as I stepped on the runway and took that first jump, I realized how much I enjoyed the feeling of competing as an individual.  Ever since then I’ve become obsessed.  I work on and study pole vault like it’s my job, trying to soar higher and higher every day with my teammates.  My dream would be to compete in college and get to the Olympics to represent my country on a world stage.
