My name is Ben Munukka and i've been running track since 8th grade. I started doing track for fun and to get in shape for the upcoming soccer season but soon realized I was pretty good. I was jumping 5'4 by the end of 8th grade and was looking forward to improving that during my freshman season but it was canceled due to covid. Trying to pick up where I left was difficult at first. I wasn't performing well for the beginning of my sophomore season, still jumping between 5'4 and 5'6. just over halfway through I ended up reaching 5'10 for the first time in a meet, then raised that to 6'0 the next week. I finished off sophomore season placing 3rd overall in the state. coming into my junior year I picked up indoor track and was unsure about going into the first meet because I hadn't had a place to practice jumping. Just using the weight room during practice. I ended up facing the number one jumper in the state and tied him at 6'0.75 to take first overall in the state for the indoor season. I finished off my junior year placing first at states and second in the whole state by just 3/4 of an inch. I think I would be a good candidate for any track team because when I perform bad and sometimes feel like quitting I start to focus on the little mistakes or flaws in my jumps and work at those for 2-3 whole practices and eventually improve my heights every season.
