I joined the Cross Country team in 6th grade and quickly found that I was fast and I loved competing against others. My dad has always told me my great grandfather was an amazing distance runner. In fact, he was one of the fastest runners in the entire state of Ohio when he ran for Ohio-Wesleyan college in the 1930s.
I enjoy running on my own, but I also like being a part of a team. I made the varsity team as a freshman in high school and was inspired by a great group of seniors. They taught me leadership and what it meant to be a great teammate. Coach Christenson and Coach Peterson set high expectations for me from day 1 and pushed me to work hard to be my very best.
I've always been active in my community, thanks in part to sports. I rang bells for the Salvation Army around Christmas for my club basketball team. We collect cans and hold car wash events and brat drives to raise funds for our Cross Country team. I collected food for the Hunger Task Force on Halloween, helping with the "Trick-or-Can" food drive.
I'm strongly motivated to run even faster and to become a valuable piece on a collegiate level team.
