I am a pole vaulter and sprinter at Ripon High School in Wisconsin. My current PR is 15’4" which I accomplished this Jan. at the Texas Expo Explosion Meet 2021. Currently vaulting with the Polebender's Vault Club in Waukesha, WI coached by Johnny Graham, Jen Warr and my father Joel Cook, I was fortunate to compete in the Adidas Indoor Nationals in Virginia Beach, finishing 14th in the Boys Championships.
It is my belief that you need to help out and be part of something larger than athletics as well. Being an active member of the school and community, I am a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Band, Choir, Math Team, Wisconsin State Honors Choir (5 years) and a lifeguard at our high school pool. I lettered in varsity football for two years then transitioned over to soccer my junior year and was named all-conference defensive back. Currently my GPA is 3.77 GPA with a 25 ACT and interests include majoring in business, physics, or engineering.
Working hard in the gym during season and off season is something I am very proud of. I always try to put my best foot forward during practice and competitions while supporting others. Whether it is on the field or off, you will find me a positive person. I enjoy talking with other athletes on ways to improve our performances and what will push us to the next level. One thing that motivates me in track is my love for the vault, as both my dad and sister pole vaulted in high school as well. This is something that is something special shared with our family.
My belief is that if you set goals, remain determined, and work hard to improve, in the end you will be in a much better spot to achieve your next goal. It doesn't matter if it is a higher height in pole vault, learning how to do a math problem, or helping someone along the way. We can all improve somehow in a determined way to make the team, family, school or community better in the end. Life is too short to let it slip away, so make the most out of it while you can.
