Personal Statement

Ever since my parents signed me up for the I RUN Kids Marathon: A summer of reading and running.  I was in love, from the extremely hot and muggy summer track days to the cold and nippy weather of the State Cross Country meet, running will forever be something that I'm passionate about.  I want to find my peak potential within running(whether that's track & field or Cross Country or both); I feel as though High School was only the surface of my true potential, I believe that with the combination of collegiate workouts and my own work ethic or will to push myself will put me at my peak potential and make me a very valuable asset to any team.  Due to me pushing myself to my potential, it will rub off on my teammates(as it did for High School) and they will want to strive for their own potential.  Additionally, many people find me to be charismatic and an individual whom they can confide in, which will improve the whole teams communication with one another because they will be more open with others on the team by seeing an individual whom is open.  I've also been doing sports throughout my entire High School career(maintaining a 4.0 GPA) and was and still balancing my sports with not only my school work, but also a job and other extracurricular activities which are all equally demanding of my time.  I believe that I will be able to transfer all of these skills and my passion, from my High School sport career to the Collegiate level, becoming one of the best assets on the Cross Country or Track & Field team at any college.

Training

  • Track Weight Lift Training
  • 2 years
  • With weight lifting we usually do heavier lifts on recovery days focusing on mainly legs, rather than upper body. Which from my experience this year I believe the coaches should've punctuated a little better on the upper body aspect for pumping arms and such. Additionally, weights were only hit roughly once or twice per week.
  • Track Speed Training
  • 2 years
  • During the first year, due to COVID, coaches were highly under prepared causing for long distance to run and complete speed workouts. Rather than fully preparing us for actual long distance. Although, reflecting on this year the long distance group was able to punctuate on workouts catered to what we needed.
  • Track Speed Training
  • 2 years
  • We had lots of speed training last year and even more this year, which allowed for us to gauge when we should really push ourselves in a race and to also increase overall speed throughout the race.
