My name is Aaron Voth and I live in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I am 16 years, 6ft 5in and 175lbs. I am currently in grade 11 at Windsor Secondary School.
I have been active in sports from a very young age and have enjoyed a high level of success in soccer, baseball, and basketball. However, I have realized my greatest passion is for the sport of volleyball and I have been actively pursuing my desire to play at the National level. A huge part of this journey is to be able to play at the University level with a team that is committed to excellence. I am very goal oriented and this plays a huge part in my academic success as well. I have made Honour Roll with Distinction since the beginning of grade 8 and am continuing to work hard at balancing both my academic and athletic aspirations.
There is a bit of a story to my life that I feel gives some good insight into my will to work hard in order to succeed and achieve my goals. In November of 2016, I was rushed to Children's Hospital for emergency surgery that was not promised to be successful. With heart felt gratitude, I can say that the surgery was a success, but I did spend the next 6 weeks in hospital as well as months afterwards recovering. By now, I had missed most of my volleyball club season, but was eventually strong enough to play a little in one of the final tournaments. As luck would have it, I broke my thumb during my second game of the tournament and spent 6 more weeks in a hand cast. I was devastated, as Provincial Team tryouts were only 2 months away. During that time, I trained in every way possible to prepare myself for these tryouts without being able to use my hand. I was selected to the team and was even asked to attend the National Team Selection Tryout the following weekend. I then spent the month of July of 2017 training with the BC Team and was privileged to attend the National Team Cup Challenge (NTCC) in Gatineau, Quebec.
My passion for volleyball continues to grow and I know I have the determination, self discipline, and sheer will to become the best player I can be. My wish is to play with others who share these same attributes so I can continue to learn, improve, and contribute to the success of both my team and my teammates.
