I didn't quite realize the relationship between playing volleyball and attending college before I played on the varsity team at my school. There, I saw my teammates graduating to such schools as Princeton, Harvard, and NYU to play in their programs. One thing that I noticed as well while playing for my high school team, was that it instilled in me a sense of pride of being able to represent my school by doing something I liked. I was also noticing the amount of focus they were putting into their schoolwork to achieve their goal of attending a future college.
In terms of characteristics I bring to a team, parents and coaches have said that I bring a very positive and team-focused attitude to the court, my club as well as my high school team coaches expect a very high level of good sportsmanship and playing as a team, not individuals. I have the privilege of having my club director as my high school head coach and he sets a great standard for sportsmanship that i share across both my teams. My hope is that I can play at a school where the coach and the team share similar dynamics, and I can get a great education as well.
Please let me know what national tournaments you are going to. I would love to make introductions.
