My name is Anuj Dharmendran and I am entering my senior year at James Logan High School. I have been playing volleyball for about seven years and since then, I've taken every opportunity that has come my way to grow and learn in the volleyball realm. I had played for my Junior High team both years and played Junior Varsity in my freshman year of high school. In my sophomore and junior year, I've been competing on my school's Varsity team.
Something that sets me apart from other candidates is that I've always been the youngest on my teams. When I was only 13, I played on a 16-1s team for my club, UC Elite. This year, I will be the only sophomore on my school's Varsity team. With UC Elite, I was given the opportunity to play with my team in various competitions throughout California. Through my years of playing, I have come to realize that my passion for the sport and my teamwork skills have shown to be more valuable for the team, regardless of my age.
Off the court, I am often found representing my school team by competing in speech and debate tournaments. I also take part in charity work with a non-profit organization called Small Steps Foundation, which funds computer labs and science equipment for underprivileged children in India. Throughout my 5 years of fundraising for the program, I've raised about $4,000 for this meaningful cause. I have also been a core member of my high school's Bollywood dance team, Jalwa. My experience of working in teams is not only limited to volleyball, but also debate, dance, and basketball. Before I even entered high school, I always had an inclination towards law and crime enforcement. Along with volleyball, I hope to become a successful lawyer in the near future. My commitment, teamwork skills, passion, and dedication are apparent in my volleyball career, academics, and extra-curriculars.
I am looking forward to prosper both on and off the court.
