Hello coaches, my name is Carson Schmick and it has been a lifelong dream of mine to participate in collegiate athletics.  With this in mind, I have always excelled in the classroom to make my dream a reality.  My motivation and work ethic in my academics has been directly translated to my success on the volleyball court.  At my high school, I have exhibited all the qualities of both a team player and a leader through various roles I have played on campus.  Volleyball has been a great tool for me to build on these skills as without teamwork and proper leadership, a group of players will never be successful.  Having the opportunity to play at the college level will help me refine and share my skills in order to prepare me for life after college as the workplace is exactly like a volleyball team.  You must always work together with good leadership to be successful in any business.  

Besides my teamwork and leadership skills, it is my character which sets me apart from the rest.  Listening and helping others is what I stand for.  I make it a point to make others better, because it is my belief that when you make the people around you better, you yourself become a better person.  I have lived by this belief on the court and in the classroom, it is now my hope to continue this at your institution.  Thank you for taking the time to review my statement, I hope to be hearing from your soon.
